May is an important month for mental health awareness across Canada. It includes Mental Health Week (May 4–10), as well as Women’s Mental Health Month, which highlights women’s mental health and well‑being. Together, these observances encourage awareness and access to meaningful support.
Mental health is a key part of overall health and readiness. Feeling supported, informed, and connected can help individuals manage stress, build resilience, and maintain well‑being both at work and at home. Women’s mental health, in particular, may be shaped by a range of factors including life transitions, caregiving roles, workplace pressures, and access to care, making awareness and supportive environments especially important.
At CFB Borden, mental health education and awareness are supported year‑round through CFMWS Health Promotion. Health Promotion programs are designed to empower individuals with practical, evidence‑informed knowledge and skills that support well‑being, resilience, and healthy lifestyle habits. Programming focuses on prevention, education, and early support, helping to foster a positive and supportive culture across the CAF community.
Throughout May and beyond, PSP’s Health Promotion team offers a variety of workshops, briefings, and learning opportunities, including sessions focused on:
- Mental health awareness
- Stress management and resilience
- The connection between physical activity and mental well‑being
- A wide variety of health education topics
These offerings provide practical tools that can be applied in everyday life and support both personal well‑being and a healthy, engaged workplace. These programs and initiatives are designed to meet the needs of CAF members at all stages of their careers.
As we recognize Mental Health Week and Women’s Mental Health Month, members of the CFB Borden community are encouraged to take time to check in with themselves and others, stay informed, and explore available supports.
