An exciting opportunity is available for CAF members, as well as first responders and hospital practitioners, to share their creativity through The Steel Spirit.
Open to both serving and retired personnel, the initiative invites participants to submit artwork that reflects their experiences, perspectives, or personal interests. It recognizes that each individual has a story to tell, and that creative expression can be a powerful way to share it.
Beyond the artwork itself, the project encourages connection. Creative outlets can support well-being and resilience, while offering a meaningful way to reflect on and communicate personal experiences.
Selected pieces will be featured in upcoming exhibitions in August 2026 in Creemore and September 2026 at Barrie City Hall. These exhibitions provide artists with an opportunity to showcase their work publicly and engage with the broader community, while giving visitors a unique window into the lived experiences of those who serve.
Submissions include both the artwork and the story behind it. Members of the CAF, first responders, and hospital practitioners, past and present, are encouraged to share what inspired their pieces.
The Steel Spirit celebrates service beyond the uniform by creating space for storytelling and highlighting the creativity that exists across these communities.
