On 7 May 2025, CFB Borden’s Personnel Support Services (PSS) unit held an Honours and Recognition Ceremony at Vickers Dining Hall to celebrate the achievements, milestones and service of its members and civilian staff.
Unit members and their families were recognized across a variety of categories, from long-service medals and promotions to unit commendations and wellness awards.
Royal Recognition
The ceremony began with the presentation of the King’s Coronation Medal, awarded to:
- Warrant Officer Rodney
- Captain Wilson
Each recipient was recognized by command of King Charles III for their valuable contributions to Canada during His Majesty’s coronation year.
Canadian Forces Decoration Recipients
This long-service decoration, awarded for 12 or more years of honourable service, was presented to:
- Corporal Michael Diet, recognized for 12 years of service including deployments on OP Lentus and OP Laser, as well as active volunteer work within Borden.
- Petty Officer 2nd Class Kevin Dignard, marking over 22 years of service, with deployments to Normandy, Nunavut, and Kingston.
- Officer Cadet Stefanie Moo Sang, honoured for over two decades of service, including instructional roles and current studies in health administration.
- Major Philip Carey, recognized for a career spanning more than 22 years with multiple deployments and advanced academic accomplishments.
Promotions
Three individuals were officially promoted during the ceremony:
- Sgt Sheel, promoted from MCpl, currently serving as PSS BTL 2IC.
- Cpl Stephen Dean, a Le Cordon Bleu-trained cook responsible for preparing meals for over 800 individuals daily.
- Cpl Elaine Campbell-Taylor, an HRA accelerated to the rank of Corporal for outstanding administrative contributions.
CO PSS Commendations
Captain Blogg was recognized for her exceptional leadership in centralizing HRA operations at CFB Borden, fostering collaboration and administrative efficiency.
Mr. Steve Azevedo, a culinary leader, was commended for his dedication to mentorship and elevating dining standards across the base.
CO PSS Coin Recipients
Capt McGee (retired) was honoured for eight years of devoted service at Borden, including four years with the Chaplain Team. His mentorship and stability during times of transition left a lasting impression.

CFMWS Wellness Award
Presented to Dr. Scott Rollo, this award acknowledged his innovation and commitment to health and wellness. From launching the Fundamentals of Sleep program to leading mental health initiatives, Dr. Rollo’s impact across units has been significant and lasting.

CAF Force Test Platinum Achievers
Members who excelled in the Canadian Armed Forces FORCE Evaluation received the Platinum Award:

- Ashlyn Karosas
- Brandon Gaudette
- Derek VanNess
- Greg Balind

A Ceremony Rooted in Pride and Progress
Commanding Officer LCol Brown closed the ceremony by expressing her gratitude to all recipients for their tireless contributions to the PSS unit and the wider Borden community. The event served as a timely reminder that behind every service milestone and medal is a story of sacrifice, perseverance, and pride.
