The CFB Borden basketball team has made base history by winning the regional championship, and as a result will represent Ontario at the National Basketball Championship this April. The achievement marks the first time in 15 years that the Borden basketball team has won regionals and advanced to the national level.

Regional playoffs took place on March 5 and 6, 2026, featuring teams from CFB Kingston, CFB Petawawa, and 8 Wing Trenton. Borden entered the playoffs after a strong round robin performance, finishing first overall based on points and a head-to-head tiebreaker.

Playoff action began on March 5 with the semifinals. In the morning matchup, Team Borden faced CFB Kingston, winning 68–52, ultimately advancing to the championship final. Later that day, 8 Wing Trenton defeated CFB Petawawa 70–64 in the second semifinal.

The championship game took place on March 6, with Team Borden hosting Trenton in a highly anticipated final. Demonstrating strong teamwork, Borden claimed a commanding 94–72 win, securing the regional title.

The regional victory caps off an impressive season for Team Borden, which finished the tournament with a 3–1 record and first place overall. The championship win not only reflects the team’s athletic ability but also the dedication and commitment shown throughout the season by players, coaches, and support staff.

With the regional title secured, Team Borden will now turn its focus to the National Basketball Championship, which will be hosted at CFB Borden from April 26 to April 30 at the Buell Gym.

As preparations begin for Nationals, the regional championship stands as a testament to the hard work, perseverance, and pride of Team Borden, which is an accomplishment that will be remembered across the base for years to come.
