Families gathered on 28 March 2026 for a morning of springtime fun as the CFB Borden Community Council (BBCC) hosted its 3rd Annual Spring Eggstravaganza. The event welcomed families from across the base for a celebration filled with activities and seasonal fun.
Held during two time slots between 1000 hrs and noon inside the Field House at the Buell Gym, the event saw strong participation, with approximately 95 families registering. Attendance remained high throughout the morning, with 82 families and 141 children between the ages of 1 and 13 taking part in the festivities.
The event featured an energetic egg hunt, with about 3,000 eggs hidden and spread across all three Field House floors. The egg hunt was organized by age group using colour-coded eggs, helping ensure a positive experience for all participants.
One of the morning’s highlights was a visit from the Easter Bunny, who made a special appearance during both egg hunts. The Bunny surprised children by helping them locate eggs and enthusiastically posed for photos. Armed with their own bags and buckets, children eagerly searched the venue, with excitement and laughter filling the Field House.
After collecting their baskets full of eggs, participants brought them to the prize table, where each child received a selection of fun toys to take home, adding to the excitement and providing a memorable takeaway from the event.
Community partners SISIP Financial and the Borden Military Family Resource Centre (BMRC) played an important role in supporting the event, contributing to its overall success. Organizers from the CFB Borden Community Council expressed their appreciation to the volunteers, partners, and families who participated, noting that events like the Spring Eggstravaganza create valuable opportunities for connection and lasting memories.
With strong turnout, cheerful activities, and plenty of smiling faces, the Spring Eggstravaganza once again proved to be a valued seasonal tradition at CFB Borden, setting a positive tone for the spring months ahead.
