On September 23rd, The Steel Spirit hosted its ninth annual reception at Barrie City Hall, showcasing the artwork and stories of local military, first responders, and hospital practitioners.
Jay Baker MC’d the evening with his service dog, Captain, who wore a bow tie. Four of the artists spoke about their backgrounds and their creative path through their experiences. Speeches by the artists touched on the importance of creativity alongside the stress of the job and addressing loneliness that can affect all of us during stressful times.
“It always inspires me to continue these galleries when the artists’ stories resonate with so many. One woman at the reception held her hand on her heart through an entire speech. It’s wonderful to see a room of strangers becoming friends.” – Barbara Brown, founder of The Steel Spirit.
The Steel Spirit will be hosting its next gallery online on Thursday, October 1st, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm EDT. This is a free event, and everyone is welcome. If interested, please RSVP to thesteelspiritwebinars@gmail.com
